Port-au-Prince, Haiti — As part of ongoing cooperation between Haiti and Taiwan, 47 young Haitians have been granted scholarships to pursue their studies in Taiwan this year.

A Growing Partnership in Education

The program, supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), has expanded steadily, offering more Haitian students the opportunity to study abroad each year. This reflects the strong bilateral ties between Haiti and Taiwan in the field of education.

Etzer Émile Shares His Experience

Economist Etzer Émile, who was among the first eight Haitian students to benefit from the scholarship program back in 2008, attended the send-off ceremony.

On social media, he expressed his pride and encouragement to the departing students:

“I believe in you, I wish you great success, and I salute MOFA and ICDF for their support.”

Émile noted how the opportunity transformed his own career and urged the new scholars to serve as role models for future generations of Haitians.

An Investment in Haiti’s Future

With 47 new recipients this year, the number of Haitians pursuing higher education in Taiwan continues to rise, promising a new generation of skilled professionals ready to contribute to Haiti’s development.
