Dominican Republic Becomes Amazon’s Distribution Hub for the Caribbean

The Dominican Republic has officially been designated as Amazon’s new distribution hub for the Caribbean, according to an announcement by the country’s Director General of Customs, Eduardo “Yayo” Sanz Lovatón.
First Cargo Flight Arrival
The first Amazon cargo plane is scheduled to land at Las Américas International Airport. Initially planned for September 2, 2025, the arrival was postponed to September 3 at 9:00 a.m. due to logistical adjustments.
Strategic Role in Regional Trade
With this development, the Dominican Republic is positioning itself as a key player in e-commerce and logistics for the region. The move strengthens the country’s role as a central hub for Latin America and the Caribbean, boosting its influence in international trade.
Economic and Regional Impact
Officials say the Amazon hub will not only accelerate delivery times across the Caribbean but also create opportunities for local businesses, strengthen supply chain infrastructure, and integrate the Dominican Republic more deeply into the global digital economy.
