Washington, D.C. — Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé departed the country on Tuesday for an official visit to the U.S. capital, where he will take part in a series of meetings with officials from the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN).

What’s on the Agenda

Talks will center on the OAS roadmap presented on August 20 by new Secretary General Albert Ramdin. The plan is estimated at nearly $2.6 billion USD, with more than $1.3 billion earmarked for security.

Diplomatic sources indicate there is a strong chance that the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) could move under direct UN funding beginning in October, a point expected to dominate the agenda.

Members of the Delegation

  • Raina Villejoint Forbin – Chief of Staff to the President
  • CPT Laurent Saint-Cyr
  • Guerly Leriche – Advisor to the Prime Minister
  • Amos Dorival
  • Alfred Fils Métellus – Minister of Economy and Finance
  • Mario Andrésol – Secretary of State for Public Security
  • Herwil Gaspard – Delegate Minister for Solidarity & Humanitarian Affairs
  • Frédéric Leconte – Inspector General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH)
  • Jacques Desrosiers – Treasurer, Provisional Electoral Council (CEP)
  • Philippe Augustin – Executive Director, CEP
  • Bingel Victor – Electoral Expert

Follow-Up to July Diplomacy

This trip follows meetings held in Washington in July 2025, during which the Prime Minister met with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, members of Congress, and OAS officials to discuss Haiti’s political and security crisis.
